Shabby Chic Decor Item of the Day

I just love recycling picture frames I find at thrift stores by repainting them. It gives something old and unwanted a whole new look and life! I am actually planning to find time to repaint some lovely recycled picture frames for my own home to put in my living room. Between dividing my time between being a Mom, wife, my Etsy shop and blogging, I stay pretty busy! Anyways,  the item of the day from my Etsy store VintageChicFinds  is a set of 3 recycled repainted light blueish wood picture frames, complete with glass. The price for these shabby chic picture frames has been lowered down to $19.99. I hope you enjoy them. Thanks for stopping by!

More vintage and antique finds at Grandma's house...

So this is yet another post about my recent trip down to my Grandparent's house, which is full of antiques and vintage items. I am basically going to just share with you some pictures, and try to best describe what is in each of them. Let's start with an Aunt Jemima cookie jar:
She sits on a shelf in my grandma's "Old Fashioned Style Kitchen". She had a room built onto her house that she could make look like an old kitchen. In the next picture, there are some beautiful vintage wall decorations that hang in her den, that my Mom said my Grandmother made herself a long time ago, in some sort of art class. I never knew this until a couple of weeks ago, though I have seen them hanging on her wall for years and years.

Here are some antiques that sit by my grandparent's fireplace in their living room:
Here is a picture of a 'Granny' wearing a yellow dress that sits upon the kitchen counter:
Cute, isn't she? :)
Next, a very horrible picture of me with my sweet 82 year old Grandma. I say horrible, because I look absolutely terrible in this picture because I have gained so much weight, lol. But you can read about that on my other blog called, Jessica Has ToLoseWeight, that documents my weight loss adventure. Now back to the picture, haha:
Here is a gorgeous picture of my Grandma when she was younger...
Under it is a picture of both my Grandparents around their 50thWedding Anniversary. Next is a picture of an antique salt and pepper shaker set:

This sits in the old kitchen. I think its an old cabinet/cupboard:
Here is a shelf full of goodies in their dining room. Notice the collection of Pillsbury Dough Boys:
An old-timey telephone that hangs in their kitchen:
Some antique butter churns:

Aaaaannnnddd......a collection of plates:

Here are some antique lamps:
Antique dishes given to my Grandmother by her father (my great-grandfather):
Rubber duckies anyone?
Vintage collectible bells:
Antique accordion:
Some vintage pictures:
Some antique and vintage figurines:
An antique stove. REALLY love love love this:
Antique perfume bottle sprayer:
And of all of the antique and vintage things my Grandma collects, I would have to say that dolls are her favorite. I will leave you with pictures of some of them:

And that concludes my trip to my Granparent's house! Hope you enjoyed looking at all of the antique and vintage goodies.

Item of the day from VintageChicFinds

The amazing cool awesome unbeatable item of the day from my Etsy store VintageChicFinds is...............A gorgeous antique powder dish. It is just adorable. I would love to keep it myself, but like I have said before, if my hubby let me keep every single thing I wanted to, I would become a hoarder. Oh well, maybe it will find a good home soon! It's just beautiful. Enjoy!

IOTD from VintageChicFinds! Recyled, Repuposed, Shabby Chic, Vintage finds!

The item of the day from VintageChicFinds is this cute purple coat/purse hanger. This would be perfect in a small chic apartment, or even in a little girl's room to hold purses and bags. I re-purposed this coat/purse hanger with light purple acrylic paint, and sealed it with clear acrylic sealer. This item is available for purchase in my Etsy store, VintageChicFinds. Enjoy!

More antiques at Grandma's house...

Wow, it sure has been a long time since I posted last! Well, like about 2 weeks or so. But it feels like FOREVER! We just got back from our cruise vacation to Mexico, and it was...welll...amazing. So I am just now getting back into the swing of things here at home, haha. So anyways, like I said in my last post, I am doing a series of posts dedicated to my Grandparents, who have been collecting antiques for as long as I have known them. I recently visited them at their home, which is full of years and years worth of antiques that they have accumalated at auctions, thrift stores, etc. I will share a few more of these goodies with you today. Here is a picture of some beautiful antique/vintage teacups that my Grandmother has collected. I apologize for the horrible picture quality...I forgot my camera and had to take pics with my phone. Low quality, I know.
A cute teacup collection:
She also collected spoons:
Some teapots...(low quality pic, I know):
Now for the China cabinet. It is definitely antique. I am not sure exactly how old, but the glass on the front of the door is curved. This cabinet sits in their formal dining room, and is extremely heavy. And very beautiful indeed.
Here is a picture of the fine China sitting in this gorgeous cabinet. I did not write down the brand, but took a picture. Unfortunately, it did not turn out clear enough for me to decipher it. If you recognize it, please feel free to leave a comment. I would appreciate it, as I do not know how long it will be before I can get back down to visit my Grandparents to find out.

Thats all for this post, see you next time! Maybe it won't be so long between posts this time, haha.

Vintage Item of the Day from VintageChicFinds

The vintage item of the day from VintageChicFinds is a very pretty candle holder.

Trip to vintage/antique museum...aka my Grandparent's house!

So over the next few days I will be posting about my past weekend trip to my Grandparent's house. They have been married for 65 years this past May 2012, and still live by themselves in a farmhouse on about 20 acres. Here is a picture of them when they were first married:

They have been attending antique auctions and frequenting antique malls since I can remember. So just imagine what a house would look like with 65 years worth of vintage and antiques in it...
My grandmother loves to collect dolls, Aunt Jemima, along with some rather odd items. Here is a picture of my grandmother taken this past weekend, standing beside an antique organ that she and my grandpa purchased about 15 years ago....
Now when I say that she collects some odd vintage things, I do mean ODD. Here is an example of a vintage oddity that I found on a shelf in their house this past weekend:

Someone please explain that one to me, lol! Anyways, you get the picture, literallly, right?!
Here is another example:
Well, like I said, over the next few days I will be sharing all of the wonderful vintage and antique things my granparents have collected together over the past 65 years of their lives together. I will leave you with a picture of my grandmother when she was young. And you can kind of see under it another pic of my grandparents when they had been married about 48 years.
Thanks for reading, and I'll be back soon with more interesting pictures of the vintage and antiques I encountered this past weekend!
